Walton Hall and Gardens

Walton Hall and Gardens offers a wide range of activities and attractions for a fun-filled family day out. Situated along the Bridgewater canal, visitors can enjoy beautiful views and watch canal boats passing by. The park provides a large pay and display car park right outside, with free entry to the park itself. Inside, there is plenty of space to explore, including nature trails, woodland walks, duck ponds, and flower gardens. Families can also visit the children's zoo, which features farm animals, and enjoy the large play area suitable for all ages. Additional activities such as mini adventure golf and pitch & putt are available for a small fee. Recently, a treetops adventure park has been added, offering an exciting experience for £15 per person. The park also houses a spacious hall and heritage centre, as well as a cosy cafe. Throughout the year, various events are held, including food fayres and Christmas events. With a free kids zoo, multiple play areas, train rides on Thomas, mini golf, and fairground rides in the summer, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Walton Hall and Gardens. The free zoo is a particularly great attraction for little ones, and the information illustrating the Makaton signs for the animals is a nice touch.

Clifton Country Park

The park is a hidden treasure with plenty to offer, including vast green spaces leading to the lake with picnic benches scattered along the path. There are various paths to explore, ranging from wide gravel paths suitable for prams to woodland trails, each offering a different experience. The lake boasts numerous routes of varying lengths, adorned with wooden sculptures from the Irwell sculpture trail, including The Gruffalo, providing an exciting adventure for children. The playground is not your typical slide and swing setup but an adventurous park, complemented by free parking, a charming cafe, and a picturesque lake. Throughout the park, you can find various signs providing historical information about the area.

The park can be accessed by driving through narrow roads leading to a spacious car park with an additional park area under the underpass. The cafe (with toilets inside) and visitor centre in the car park are convenient for visitors.

Bruntwood Park

Bruntwood Park is a vast park offering both great walking areas and a fantastic playground for children. There's a wide range of scenery and activities, including ornamental gardens, ponds, waterways, wetlands, mature woodland and top-notch playground facilities. The park boasts numerous recreational and sports facilities, such as an 18-hole golf course, football pitches, orienteering courses, a BMX cycle track, and indoor and outdoor archery ranges. There are multiple play areas with a sand pit, zip line, roundabout, swings, and slides. There are plenty of grassy fields for ball games, and younger children can enjoy sand play with a bucket and spade. During the summer months, a bouncy castle is also available for added fun. Bruntwood Park now features a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and an inclusive multi-play unit, ensuring that all children can join in the fun. Feeling hungry after all the activities? Take advantage of the outdoor seating area to have a lovely family picnic, or Head over to The Vinery café situated in a restored Victorian conservatory. Additionally, there is a hot and cold refreshments kiosk outside the play area. Also conveniently located near the play area are toilets equipped with baby changing facilities. Towards the back of the park, you can even walk through to Sainsbury's for picnic food and more. Parking is available at a low cost.

Longford Park

Perfect for the entire family, this park offers well-maintained grounds, a fantastic playground for kids, and plenty of open green spaces. Additionally, there are lovely wooded areas and open spaces for playing. The park also features a small animal corner with rabbits and goats, as well as a fantastic frisbee golf course for older kids to enjoy. With multiple play areas catering to different age groups, this park has something for everyone. The little ones can have a blast on the play area, complete with a big slide, swings, roundabout, and adorable wooden animal statues. For the more adventurous, there's a climbing rock and zipwire. The park also boasts spacious fields, picturesque walking paths, and enchanting gardens to explore. Don't forget to take part in the fairy door trail and keep an eye out for squirrels. And when hunger strikes, the park's small cafe offers delicious homemade cakes, sandwiches, and even vegan treats.
